Division 2 and Division 3 2020 Leagues Concluded – wins for Clans & Brides

There was some unfinished business to be seen to on Sunday morning in Darver when the 2020 Division 2 and Division 3 league finals were played.

The Division 2 decider was between Clan na Gael and St Kevins/Hunterstown, with The Clans coming out on top to complete their 2020 league and championship double!

Clans started off very strongly showing great team work, but unfortunately missed a lot of chances. HT/Kevin’s we’re dangerous going forward but struggled to get the ball past a strong defence in which Therese Curran was exceptional. At half-time Clans led 1-7 to 1-1.

While the Clans dominated the first half and the second half was dominated by HT/Kevin’s but they failed to convert all their chances even though they were relentless going forward. They showed great drive and determination and put the clans under severe pressure but Mia Rogers in goal pulled off some fantastic saves, three in a row to deny Hunterstown/St Kevins a second half goal to close the gap to 2 points.

Clan na Gael ran out winners 2-9 to 1-4, with full forward Ciara Woods top scorer with 2-3, while Denise McKenna also contributed strongly with 4 points.

In the Division 3 2020 decider St Brides B had a very narrow win over St Marys Ardee in a very exciting close encounter. The Brides just winning by just a single point, 1-14 to 2-10.
