Report from Louth U12s win in the Leinster A Blitz

The Louth U12s

On June 23rd, Louth U12 Ladies team travelled down to the Leinster A Blitz in Portlaoise.

The panel consisted of 22 girls, who hail from 12 different clubs across Louth and have been training together over the past number of months. We set off at 6:30 from Dundalk and on arrival, we were informed we would be facing Wicklow, Offaly, Longford.

Although this was the first competition that the girls have entered as a county, you would not have guessed it, as they performed as a team who have played together their whole lives. The girls played excellently and gave it their all, in extremely hot conditions with no shade. From the get go, they just continued to score point after point and goal after goal in all three matches.

The team played exceptionally well and won all of their matches in the division, meaning the progressed to the final. We met Offaly in the Final and we were delighted when our captain Mischa Rooney was awarded the cup, on behalf of the team, for winning the Final.

Happy players and mentors with the cup!

Coaches, Christopher Mackin and Clodagh McClean look forward to a very promising year after the outstanding display of football and teamwork that we saw over the course of the day. Congratulations to all who took part and thanks to the parents who supported the team both from home and the side line.
