LGFA Chairperson pays tribute to Gussie Sheelan RIP

Louth Ladies County Board Chairperson Liam O’Neill has paid tribute to Gussie Sheelan  who has passed away.

A native of Lordship Gussie was manager of the Louth from 1976-1977 and will be fondly remembered as a passionate supporter of Gaelic Games.

Liam O’Neill reflected;

“It is with deep regret that we learn of the passing of Gussie a former manager of our county team.

Gussie had a deep love of Ladies Gaelic Football and gave incredible time and commitment to the game in the early years and was in charge of the Louth team that reached the 1976 Leinster Senior Championship final

He was also deeply involved in the  successful St Pats ladies teams of the 1970s.

On behalf of all of us in Louth LGFA, I wish to extend our deepest sympathy to his family, his sons Paul & Alan, his daughters Jacqueline and Shirley, to his son in law, his daughter in law, to his grandchildren, to his sisters, Kitty, Anne and Margaret and to the wider family circle”.
