Our U14 team took to the pitch on Saturday in Clan na Gael in the second round of this years 2021 Leinster Championship. Louth coming off the back of a loss to Meath last weekend and Longford to Kildare,both teams had a point to prove and a loss today would make it very difficult going forward to possibly qualify for a final.
Louth got off to a great start with a hat trick of goals from Sarah Lynch and with further first half goals from both Ciara Boyle and Darcey Devlin and a point each from Amy Murray and Darcey Louth went in at the first half with a lead of 5-2 to Longford’s 1-4.
In what can be considered a game of two halves, Longford weren’t heading home west without pushing the Wee county all the way. Louth had what was their quietest quarter of the match in the 3rd quarter and on the other side Longford scored no less than three goals and at one point came within four points of Louth. The last quarter saw the Louth girls dig deep and pop over a few points which were crucial in getting across the line.
Next weekend Louth travel to Kildare who beat near neighbours Meath today on a scoreline of 3-14 to 4-10.A tough task to say the least but without doubt the Louth girls will give it their best.
