Cooley keep their championship hopes alive

Cooley Kickhams 5-10 Newtown Blues 1-03.

Cooley kept their hopes of a place in the semi-finals alive after a dominant second half display against Newtown Blues at Fr. McEvoy Park on Sunday last.

After a low key opening half which saw the home side lead by 1-3 to 0-3 despite playing against the breeze, the home side quickly took a stanglehold on proceedings soon after the resumption as goals from Ciera Quinn and Lauren Boyle extended their advantage to 3-7 to 0-3 midway through the half.

Blues did get a goal back from Becky McAllister but it was Cooley who finished strongly with further goals from Eibhlin Rice and Ciera Quinn to run out convincing winners over an out of sorts Blues.
